Oh good grief! We arrest this 30 year old girl for dui tonight. I get a 911 call from another girl who is vacationing (this was very important because she probably told me she was on vacation about 5 times) and that her friend was arrested and the police said that if she didn't leave the beach then she would be arrested. I thought, hmmmm. I actually didn't think she was in our city because the officers didn't run a passenger. She told me her friend's name and I realized she was here, sigh.
She sounded normal enough...at first. I told her I would call her back on the non emergency line since it wasn't a life and death emergency. She said that the officers were so mean and flashing lights in her eyes. I said, were you trying to interfere in the investigation? She said, no no, I was trying to help. I said, okaayyy. I said, well, I wasn't there, but usually when they tell someone to leave or stop talking it's because they don't need your input or you are trying to interefere. She said, whatever, but I don't appreciate the corporal's attitude and I don't know this place. I said, do you want me to call a cab for you? She said, no. I said, well then what are you wanting me to do? Are you wanting to make a complaint? She said yes I do. I said, okay, but his sgt is on another call and it might be a few minutes. She said, that's okay. I watch a lot of t.v. and I see Russians...before she continued, I interrupted and said, ma'am, don't believe most of what you see on t.v. T.V. is not real life and you can't compare the two.
She wanted to know a ballpark time line for the sgt to either call or come out. I said we are very busy tonight and I can't give you a time. She said, not even ballpark, I said no. She said, well I will start my watch and time it. I said, you go right ahead. She asked for the sgt's name and I gave it to her. Then she wanted his badge number. When they start doing that I get very sarcastic, because one, you're f****ing drunk, two, you know you don't have anything to write this info down on and three, you are trying to intimidate me, but in fact, you are making yourself look like and asshole. I don't intimidate from some drunk schmuck on the phone. Anyway, then she asked me my name. She said, do you have a last name? I said in a very sing song voice, why yess I dooooo. She said, well what is it. I said I am the only Cherie here. She said what is your last name. Of course no one ever spells it correctly when I spell it for them slowly and they're not drunk. So I purposely said and spelled it very quickly, but she didn't even notice. Then she asked for my position and I said, dispatcher and began to spell it too :) then she asked for my badge number and I gave it to her. What an idiot.
About 30 minutes to an hour later I get another 911 call. I thought it was the same girl, but she told me she wasn't, she was another friend to pick up the first stupid girl. She wanted to pick up her friend and get her out of jail. I said, you can't and told her the process of what was to happen. She wasn't too happy about it.
Then she called, but on the non emergency line, finally. She wanted to get the girl's car out of impound. Sorry :) only the registered owner can get the car out. She didn't like that either. I got one more call asking again how to get her friend out of jail. Are you stupid? Oh yes, yes you are, I forgot for a second.
I found out that they had been in our parking lot the entire time until the transport van came to pick up their friend.
